The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), one of the programs offered by the College of Science under the Department of Computer Science is designed to prepare students for a career in Information Technology and other related fields, equipped with the necessary skills to pursue advanced studies, and/or become Applications Developer, Database Administrator, Entrepreneur in IT industry, Information Security Administrator, Information Technology Instructor, Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Systems Analysts, Technical Support Specialist, Test Engineer, Web Administrator/ Web Master and Web Developer other Information Technology Professionals who shall develop and promote Information and Communications Technology in the region in the field of Information Technology.

The department is geared towards providing quality education to the students through 1) classroom discussions (theoretical); 2) seminars; 3) symposia; 4) field trips; 5) comprehensive case studies and presentations; 6) practical applications; etc. all for preparing the students to become globally competitive in their field of endeavor.

Program Outcomes

  1. Utilize and implement hardware and software technologies that provide computing solutions to address the needs of an organization.
  2. Identify various needs within the organization and provide solution using computing technologies.
  3. Apply basic cultural, social, legal, and ethical practices inherent in the discipline of computing.
  4. Engage in life-long learning to adapt to innovations and change in order to be successful.

Computer Science

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program prepares students to be professionals, capable of undertaking basic and applied scientific researches that are of high standards and regional and national relevance, proficient in designing and developing computing solutions and instilled with awareness and understanding of their moral, ethical and social responsibility in employing their knowledge and skills in the service of the Bicolanos and their countrymen and the people in general.

Specific Objectives

  1. Prepare students for a career in the industry equipped with adequate knowledge and skills to qualify as, but not limited to; become competent applications developer, computer science instructor, database programmer/designer, information security engineer, quality assurance engineer, researcher, systems developer and systems analyst.
  2. Prepare students to be competent global practitioners by actively engaging them through the application and utilization of information and communication technology on instruction, research, extension and production.
